40% of Parents are Starting a Side Hustle

SHS #002 - "Parent-preneur" is now a new side hustle buzzword.

Does this sound like you?

  • I don’t feel like my skills are being utilized at my current job.

  • We really need the extra money.

  • Inflation is hurting our budget every month.

  • I want to have a project to use as an escape.

  • I just can’t figure out how to get the skills to make upward moves in my career.

  • I would love to turn this hobby into a side business.

Or what about this?

  • I’d love to get a side hustle going, but I’m clueless where to start.

  • I don’t think I’ll be able to succeed with a side business.

  • I don’t have any more time in my schedule to add more work.

  • I worry that starting something on the side will get in the way of family time and/or date night with my spouse.

If any of those statements sound like you, that’s great! Well, kind of.

That’s because you sound like many of the 2,000 parents from the UK asked about starting a side hustle in a recent poll. I posted an article covering it on RunTheMoney.com.

The point is: you’re not alone. Feeling disconnected or undervalued at work. Stressed about money and rising prices for food and at the pump. Wanting and desiring more from your daily grind. All of this is normal.

But, you can’t just sit back. Instead, you need to battle your fear and take action.

This Week’s Side Hustle Tip

The first step: figure out what you can offer.

We all have talents and things people ask for our help with.

If you’re unsure about it, then it’s time to get some clarity. My recommendation is to take a personality test. You can find some recommended ones in the article I mentioned.

These tests are designed to give some insight into what makes you - YOU! Plus, when you get your results, you simply do a Google search and see what people like you do best.

It’s a great to start, research, and build momentum towards your goals. Give a try and then reach out to me. I’d love to know what revelations you had.

This Week’s Growth Tip

Be authentic. That’s my super simple growth tip this week.

I know it sounds cliche, but let me explain.

We live in world where so many things are fake or misleading. Everyone seems to be fighting for their own agenda and not listening to each other.

If run into this, what do you do? Chances are - like most of us - you tune it out.

Your mind eventually filters out the white noise.

Well, what do you think is happening when you’re throwing up fake content like everyone else? People tune you out.

Stop posting all your highlight reel moments on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other outlets.

Instead:

  • Be raw.

  • Be open.

  • Be vulnerable.

  • Share your fears.

  • Embrace your fails.

  • Be a real human being.

  • Stop being a perfect fake robot.

If you want people to buy from you, they need to know you. They need to trust you. They need to believe you’re offering them value.

What better way to do this - to do the antithesis of what everyone else is doing - and be real?

Begin today. Then, build on it tomorrow.

That’s all I have for today. I appreciate you checking it out.

Will you do me a favor and share this with your friends and family who might benefit?
